It’s officially playoff season for Yahoo Fantasy basketball if you play in a public league or your commish is content on doing things by the book. All good either way, because hopefully you made it to the dance and have a chance to keep moving towards a fantasy basketball championship.
It’ll be a decent week for streaming, with only Saturday being a double-digit slate. Most of my waiver targets are guys who play on lighter slates, but play the wire as best you can. If any notable players were dropped that can help you in your matchup, make that move!
If you need additional help with your fantasy basketball playoff matchup, head here for my complete playoff primer.
How to play the Wizards, SunsUsually, you can just blindly play the volume game. However, this isn’t a week when I’d feel extra confident just picking anyone up. Let’s start with Washington.
The rotation is a mess, and Will Riley is the only player averaging 30+ minutes over the past 10 games. I’d add him. Also, Bilal Coulibaly is playing well enough to deserve a roster spot in shallow leagues. Tre Johnson and Bub Carrington are the only guys I’d consider for deep leagues because all of the other Wizards have been so hit-or-miss. I’m holding Trae Young for now, but I fully expect to have to drop him at some point because of the back-to-backs. Start by picking up one of the Wizards (or Suns) on Monday and Tuesday, and then pivot (if necessary) thereafter.
Phoenix has some tough sledding ahead, facing the Celtics and the Timberwolves on Monday and Tuesday. Then the Spurs on Thursday. Things will lighten up over the weekend against the Raptors and Bucks. That said, I’d stream Grayson Allen in shallow leagues with Royce O’Neale, Oso Ighodaro and even ascending Rasheer Fleming if you need stocks for 12+ team leagues.
Tristan da Silva - SF/PF, Orlando Magic (26%)Da Silva should be added to all leagues. Over his past 10 games, he's averaging 14.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 stocks per game. Orlando begins the week with a Monday-Tuesday back-to-back, which should set fantasy managers up nicely and the Magic play two additional games later in the week. He dropped 55 fantasy points in a win over Washington last week, so there is spike-game potential as well for High Score.
Scoot Henderson - PG, Portland Trail Blazers (21%)The minutes restriction is officially lifted and Scoot should be a viable option for those in shallow leagues. The Blazers start the week with two fantasy-friendly matchups against the Nets and Pacers on Monday and Wednesday. That’s a good thing for Scoot — He just scored a season-high 28 points with 6 dimes vs. Indy last week. He had two 25+ point performances in Week 20 and is heating up at the right time for fantasy managers. The Blazers end the week with light Friday and Sunday slates, so keep him rostered.
Derrick Jones Jr. - SF/PF, Los Angeles Clippers (18%)Kawhi Leonard is nursing an ankle injury that will keep him out of Monday’s game. DJJ is usually a 3-and-D guy, but he’ll be needed for more with the Clips’ best player sidelined. Jones finished Week 20 inside the top-70 and will be a strong asset for fantasy managers looking for 3s and stocks. In a four-game week and the injury to Kawhi, Jones could fill up more areas of the box score in all leagues. The Clippers play the Pelicans on Wednesday and Thursday back-to-back, which should be good for fantasy purposes.
Justin Edwards - SF, Philadelphia 76ers (17%)Four of the Sixers' top-five players in scoring and usage rate are out of the lineup, affording Edwards the opportunity to display his two-way game. He’s coming off a 21-point, 2-stock performance on Sunday and over the last five games, he’s been averaging over 13 points with 2.8 stocks per game. Philly has no choice but to play him heavy minutes with their wing depth so depleted, so even in a three-game week, Edwards makes for a good streaming option in deeper leagues. Obviously, if you see one of Quentin Grimes or Cam Payne on waivers, get them.

Javon Small - PG/SG, Memphis Grizzlies (14%)Small came out of nowhere to be one of the Grizzlies’ most consistent guards over the past two weeks. While Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen Jr. are under minutes caps and being rested, Small’s been playing anywhere from 26-32 minutes a night, delivering top-100 value in 9-cat formats. He’s been both efficient and productive, chipping in across categories, averaging 14/4/5 and 1.5 steals with 49/45/86 shooting splits. The Grizz play Chicago on Monday (a good matchup), Denver on Wednesday and close the week with a Friday-Saturday back-to-back against Boston and Charlotte, where you know the other guards likely won’t suit up for one of the back-to-back legs.
Kris Dunn - PG/SG, Los Angeles Clippers (13%)You won’t find many players on waivers who have been a top-100 player for the past month and nearly for the entire season. Dunn remains one of the most underrostered players in fantasy, sitting at 13% as of Sunday. He provides fantasy managers with a consistent mix of assists, steals, strong percentages and a low-turnover rate. That’s what you want for 9-cat formats. Four games and a hurt Kawhi could lead to more shots and usage for Dunn.
Cody Williams - SG/SF, Utah Jazz (13%)The Jazz are running out of bodies and they’re giving away 10-day contracts like candy. Williams was a lottery pick who is finally getting a chance to make mistakes, but also take on far more responsibility than he normally would. He had the best game of his career on Sunday (34/7/7) and has scored over 10 points in six straight contests. He’s improving and his minutes are safely into the mid-to-high 30s lately. If you see him in shallow leagues, scoop him up because this is what silly season is all about.
I picked up Wolf in a couple of spots because of Brooklyn’s schedule. There are no back-to-backs and at the end of the week, they play on Friday and Sunday (lighter slates). Wolf’s also been playing better, averaging 12/8/2 with 1 stock per game in his last five contests. If you need a rebounder and possible low-end double-double threat, Wolf is a serviceable streamer for points leagues in Week 21.
Leonard Miller - PF, Chicago Bulls (4%)The Wolves castaway has been doing numbers over the past week. He closed Week 20 averaging 15.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game, shooting 53% from the field. Billy Donovan is playing Miller 34.9 minutes per night in his last three contests. That’s a serious confidence booster that fantasy managers should recognize. One downside to adding Miller is that his week will be over by Friday. Still, that leaves three games from Monday through Thursday to get a streamer with double-double upside.
