Kvitova announces return to tennis after giving birth

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has announced she will return to the WTA Tour later in February following the birth of her first child.

The 34-year-old, who has not played competitively since October 2023, said in a video posted on social media on Monday that she intends to play at the ATX Open in Austin, which is live on Sky Sports from February 24-March 2.

The former world No 2 added that she would also play at Indian Wells and Miami in March, with her return to Grand Slam action set to come at the French Open in May.

Kvitova said: "After 15 months being away from tennis and having my baby boy Petr, I'm coming back to the tennis circuit.

"I really miss tennis and miss competing so I am really looking forward to being back.
